Northern Central Railway of York Reveals New Passenger Coach
April 20, 2021 – New Freedom, PA – The Northern Central Railway of York (NCR), celebrated the kick-off of the 2021 season with an exclusive event for donors, volunteers, and other key supporters of NCR on April 15, 2021.
During the celebration, NCR unveiled their fourth passenger coach, an 1860s replica three years in the making. The new coach, named New Freedom, is a reproduction of an authentic 19th-century coach with seating for up to 60 people, a coal stove for winter heating, and operable windows to provide passengers with unobstructed views and 19th-century climate control. This new coach not only fits with the character of the other three coaches but also allows NCR to serve more passengers during busy events, as well as the ever-popular autumn and holiday seasons. In dedicating this coach, NCR offers passengers yet another way to experience authentic railroad history.
Along with the coach reveal, NCR released their first children’s book “All Aboard” Starts With A! by Dr. Anthony D. Fredericks. Dr. Fredericks is the Northern Central Railway’s Education Consultant and a prolific author with more than 165 book titles to his name. His celebrated children’s books include Tall Tall Tree and Mountain Night, Mountain Day. His best-selling adult titles include The Secret Life of Clams and Horseshoe Crab: Biography of a Survivor.
